About Newquay Lions Club
Newquay Lions Club is a group of individuals that want to come together to benefit the local community.
We are more than just a club, we are friends who look to benefit others and are committed to raising money for those local and those less fortunate with Lions Club International.
We meet once a month (Third Wednesday) and are always on the lookout for local projects and local groups we can support.
With activities such as Newquay Carnival, Our Coconut Shy and our Casino Nights, we would love to be part of your event to help raise money for Newquay.

How Newquay Lions Started
Newquay Lions Club was formed in 1972 with Dennis Arbuthnott as the Charter President. Dennis was the owner and founder of ACE Engineering in Newquay, and this led him to meet with the Late John Lovett who was the Managing Director of The Cornwall Colosseum in Carlyon Bay, and also a member of St.Austell Lions Club.
They became good friends and John asked Dennis if he would consider starting a Lions Club in Newquay.
Dennis then approached a few Newquay Businessmen that he knew and arranged a meeting at The Bristol Hotel in 1972. At this meeting they were given a talk about Lionism from the Zone Chairmen, who was from Bodmin Lions Club. It was then decided to proceed and form Newquay Lions Club
Dennis was elected as the 1st President in December 1972, and went on to serve the club as President on 5 occasions during his 52 years as a Lion. The last time being President in our 50th anniversary year
Dennis was a very proud Lion and was an inspiration and role model to all of us. Being a Lion was very important to Dennis and a huge part of his life.
Dennis had so many highlights during his time as a Lion and spoke about his these including being invited to attend a function at Buckingham Palace by HRH the Countess of Wessex, who is the Patron of Lions Clubs in the UK, and attending a Charter Dinner with a Lions Club in Mumbai
