St Piran’s Day Parade
March 4 @ 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm
1.00-1.45pm – Music outside Central Inn, Central Square Cornish singing led by Newquay Rowing Club Singers
2.00-2.30pm – Music outside The Cribbar, Gover Lane Cornish singing led by Oll an Gwella Male Chorus
2.45-3.15pm – Music outside Council Offices, adjacent to the slope leading up to Newquay Library – Live Cornish Music
3.00pm – Parade, led by Newquay Town Band and “The Flora Dance” will assemble Beachfield Avenue to leave Gover Lane (o/s The Cribbar) at 3.00pm and process (with processional dancers) through Bank Street to the Council Offices in Marcus Hill, arriving at about 3.20pm. There will be Cornish music outside the Council Offices, adjacent to the slope leading up to the Library prior to the parade arriving. The parade will conclude with the Newquay Heva Dance (and song).
Newquay Mayor will be invited to give a short address, then
3.30pm – School choristers supported by Oll an Gwella will sing 3 Cornish Folk Songs
3.45pm – Refreshments (donations to Cornish Charities) will be available in St Michaels Church Hall at the conclusion of the Parade & Performances.
4.30pm – St Michaels Church St Piran’s Eve Concert involving local schools, together with choral groups, to include poetry and songs.
