Young Citizens Award

Newquay Lions Club was honoured to host the 2026 distinguished Young Citizens Awards Evening, at the Kilbirnie Hotel, Newquay, celebrating the outstanding achievements of young people within our community. The event was exceptionally well attended, creating a warm and uplifting atmosphere that reflected the pride felt across Newquay for its remarkable youth.

We were privileged to welcome the Mayor of Newquay, Councillor Drew Creek, who graciously assisted in presenting the awards alongside our Lions President, Barb May. Their presence added significant gravitas to the occasion, and we extend our sincere appreciation for their continued support of this important community initiative.

This year’s nominees demonstrated exceptional qualities, including resilience, compassion, leadership, courage, and a strong commitment to community service. Their contributions highlight the positive impact young people are making in Newquay and serve as a powerful reminder of the potential and promise within our town. Although a small number of nominees were unable to attend, their achievements were formally acknowledged and celebrated to ensure their efforts received the recognition they deserve.

Newquay Lions Club extends heartfelt thanks to Maggie Biddle and Jill Willmott, whose dedication and meticulous organisation ensured the smooth running of the evening. We also express our gratitude to the parents, carers, teachers, and supporters who encourage these young people and help them thrive.
